Weekend Summary

So it’s finally Monday and the weekend is over – And despite my best efforts I’ve not been able to finish either write up yet! I planned on doing it today but have had to have a surprise trip to the hospital, which is always fun times! I’ve still managed to get a couple of things together to fill the gap before I can finish the full write up, including a Midnight Sons roster that also went 3-0 at Asgard games! I was super chuffed to go 4-0 and 3-0, bagging two more First places for the Web Heads!

Directly to my right in the photo is Tapper. Tapper is one of the real OG’s from Board in Brum, who picked up the game as soon as it dropped – And owns everything they’ve released since then. Tapper moves through a bunch of different affiliations, and is as much about the fluff and the lore as he is about the gameplay. He bought Midnight Sons along to Asgard – And went 3-0 with them after playing against Criminal Syndicate, Uncanny X-Men and the Guardians of the Galaxy. The roster he took was

Believe it or not, yes that does say Ghost Rider! I watched Tapper play on table two after my game finished and was surprised to see Hell on Wheels doing work! Tapper’s roster is super interesting, the huge spread of threat in his Crisis not something I’d usually expect to see – He could end up playing 15, 16, 17, 18 or 19 and that’s just with his own cards!

I think what Tapper’s roster also showcases really well is just how easy it is to run Midnight Sons/Web Warriors. If he was to drop Ghost Rider and Deal with the Devil for Miles Morales and All Webbed Up, he’d suddenly have a really strong roster that can now switch affiliations! It will be interesting to see the changes to Ghost Rider – If any – And I think he desperately should have Immunity (Hex, Incinerate) just like Brother Voodoo!

The second thing I wanted to briefly talk about was how close some of my games were – And how I ended up playing quite a few different threat values over the weekend. On Saturday I played 20, 18, 18 and 16 threat, and Sunday it was 17, 18, 19. I still managed to play 18 threat in nearly half of my games, and narrowly avoided playing S.W.O.R.D base, although I’m actually pretty happy to play it.

The final against Elliot’s Criminal Syndicate at Boards and Swords was really close, and we had another close game at Asgard in round two, this time when Elliot had Sam Spam Avengers. My first game at Asgard against Dom was also super close – Dom nearly catching me out with his Uncanny X-Men!
It’s really great to see how they’ve both developed as players and grown into their own playstyles, and I might have to stop training them, lest the Jedi’s become the Master’s!
